The Eco Beanie is ecologically friendly because it is made from recycled plastic. The Aspen is one part wool to 2 parts acrylic (unspecified source). Although only striped beanies can be seen on the description, (like many blankets and promo items on Budgetblankets.com) there are many other colors, solid and striped to choose from. I think the solid brown is a nice woody light almond color and is more complementary for everyday wears.
The Eco beanie feels more substantial because of the fleece liner, and the larger weave. As to which is a better insulator, just buy them both and wear one on top of the other. Twice the insulation.
Both of the beanies fit tight on my head which is a size seven and a half in western wear. They would certainly loosen up, because these are promo items, one size fits all.
